Speaker 1:

Hello everyone, welcome to another episode of Human Wreckage. This one is about Nohima Graver. There is a lot to this case, but I kept it brief. I hope these two enjoy their years in prison. They deserve so much more.

Speaker 1:

Nohima Graver was teaching Spanish at Fairfield High School. She had been teaching for nine years in the school. According to their official website, willard Miller and Jeremy Goodill were also studying there. She was a 66-year-old woman who originally came from Mexico, but she was living in Fairfield. She died tragically on November 2, the same day when Mexico celebrates Mexico's Day of the Dead. That means that dead people come back to visit on this day. Unaware of her own pending death, graver explained about this holiday to a local newspaper on November 1. She was sharing her belief on the ritual of how the dead come back to visit on the Day of the Dead. She said we know we're all going to die. It's our way of laughing at death.

Speaker 1:

After spending a normal day on November 1, she went missing the next day. Her family reported her missing on November 3 to the police. She was last seen alive on November 2. She was last seen near Chodokwa Park, iowa. She used to walk in the park during her afternoons. So police started their search to find the mysteriously missing Nohima Graver on November 3. According to a police investigation, she also went to school on November 2 and left the school at 4 pm. There was footage proof of her leaving the school shortly before 4 pm. When police investigated the daily habits of Graver, they came to know that she had a habit of going to the park after 4.30, so they had confirmation that she had entered the park, but they could not determine that she had left the park. So police started searching the park. The park area is very large. It has a long walking path and a large wooded area. Police found her body in the woods and it did not look like a suicide. It was obviously someone murdered. Her. Police started to look for suspects.

Speaker 1:

An interesting twist happened after police found the body of the missing teacher. Someone connected to the two students, goodale and Miller, told police that Goodale possibly knew the information about the missing teacher. He brought Snapchat screenshots as proof to the police. The chat showed descriptive information about the murderer, miller, and his crime partner, goodale. Snapchat has a disappearing message feature in which the message disappears after viewing, so the only way to save the message is by taking screenshots or taking the picture on another phone. So the person with whom Goodale was sharing the information at first did not save the messages, but when he realized that it was important to save messages, he saved them. They shared the social media chat proofs with the police. The information included how and why Miller wanted to kill Graver, their planning of the murder and then executing that plan in reality. Also the information disclosed how they made an effort to hide the body. Another reason the police identified the prime suspect was that Miller was seen at the same park on November 2nd. A witness who knew Miller saw him at the park where the teacher went missing. The witness described Miller's clothing. On that day the police found the same clothing in Miller's house and noticed blood stains on it. Police also found other evidence in Miller's house.

Speaker 1:

Goodale and Miller accused of Nohime Graver's death had been best friends since they were very young. They studied at the private Maharishi school and then moved to a public school. Their first school was connected to Maharishi University of Management in Fairfield. The police started their investigation and they admitted their crime. When Ms Graver came into the park for jogging, miller and Goodale were already near the entrance area of the park when they saw her they took a quicker route towards the access trail where they wanted to murder her. That is because usually less people go on that trail. When Ms Graver arrived at the access trail, Miller nodded towards Goodale and Goodale looked around and nodded back to give him the signal that no one was watching. When Ms Graver passed by them, miller hit in the head with a bat. Miller hit her multiple times in the head to make sure that she was dead.

Speaker 1:

After making sure that the Miss Graber was not breathing, they dragged the body away from the walking path in the strip of woods. Afterwards they came back to the parking lot and found the van of Miss Graber. They hid the van in the woods. Goodell also told the police about the equipment that Miller brought with him. He said Miller did not instruct him to have any equipment. He told investigators about a screwdriver hammer, baseball bat and pocket knife that Miller had to commit the murder. They planned to make the murder appear as a suicide. They wanted it to appear that the body was hit by the train. They gathered again to discuss hiding the body parts at different locations at midnight.

Speaker 1:

At 12 am, goodell sneaks out of his house with a green bag. He was supposed to bring the wheelbarrow shovel and bag for Miller, so he grabbed them at the park. When he reached the park, miller was already scrubbing the bloodstains in the walking path with the help of a flashlight. After removing all the blood from the access trail where they originally killed Miss Graber, they put her in a wheelbarrow and dragged her away from the murder site. After moving far away from the access trail, they rolled her down the railway track. They came back to Goodell's house after completing their horrific task and drank a lot. Miller returned to his house after drinking.

Speaker 1:

The next day. They both went to school. After school, goodell came home and that night he sent text messages about the incident to his friend, john. John was the person who showed the messages to the police immediately and helped them find the killers. Why he shared all of the information with John is unknown. Police arrested Goodell and interviewed him. After Jeremy Goodell confessed his crime and also told all about his partner, willard Miller, who killed an innocent Spanish teacher. Both of them were arrested. The court gave Goodell a life sentence in prison and he can request parole for about 25 years. Miller also received a life sentence in prison, but he can ask for parole after 35 years. With that said, let me know what you think about this bone-chilling murder story.
